Dear Parent or Guardian:
Our Town of Windham, Windham Prevention Coalition, is working to assist the community in identifying current factors that influence the healthy and positive development of our children and youth. A variety of community resources have joined together to form the Windham Prevention Coalition (WPC) with the goal of reducing substance use among the youth of Windham.
To move forward in addressing the needs of our community, we need better information about our youth and their attitudes and behaviors regarding substance use and misuse and related youth topics. In collaboration with Windham High School, we will be conducting a computer-driven survey intended to provide the WPC with data about the youth in our community and the factors that influence them. With this information, our community can plan strategies and programs that strive to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors. A similar survey was given three years ago and in years past.
The survey will be administered to students in grades 9-12. Students will be asked to voluntarily participate in this brief survey during one class period at school. The survey is both anonymous and confidential and students will not be asked for their names or any identifying information. Results will be provided only as a summary of responses. A copy of the survey is available for you to review at your principal’s office. If you would like your child excluded from the survey, please contact your principal by February 12, 2025.

Nuestra Coalición de prevención de Windham, está trabajando para ayudar a la comunidad a identificar los factores actuales que influyen en el desarrollo saludable y positivo de nuestros niños y jóvenes. Una variedad de recursos comunitarios se ha unido para formar Windham Prevención Coalición (WPC) con el objetivo de reducir el consumo de sustancias entre los jóvenes de Windham.
Para avanzar en la atención de las necesidades de nuestra comunidad, necesitamos mejor información sobre nuestros jóvenes y sus actitudes y comportamientos con respecto al consumo y abuso de sustancias y temas relacionados con los jóvenes. En colaboración con Windham High School, realizaremos una encuesta impulsada por computadora destinada a proporcionar a WPC datos sobre los jóvenes de nuestra comunidad y los factores que los influyen. Con esta información, nuestra comunidad puede planificar estrategias y programas que se esfuercen por aumentar los factores de protección y disminuir los factores de riesgo. Se realizó una encuesta similar hace tres años y en años anteriores.
La encuesta se administrará a los estudiantes de los grados 9 a 12. Se les pedirá a los estudiantes que participen voluntariamente en esta breve encuesta durante un período de clase en la escuela. La encuesta es anónima y confidencial y no se les pedirá a los estudiantes sus nombres ni ninguna información que los identifique. Los resultados se proporcionarán solo como un resumen de las respuestas. Hay una copia de la encuesta disponible para que la revise en la oficina del director de su escuela. Si desea que su hijo sea excluido de la encuesta, comuníquese con el director por escrito antes del 12 de febrero de 2025.
